DCIO Market Growing Strong, But Challenges Mount as Market Matures

Managers Consider New Tactics as Increased Competition, Target-Dates, and Evolving Plan Menus Threaten Growth

November 5, 2013 - While the DCIO market, as a whole, is strong and  growing, a sizable share of managers     are struggling to maintain net inflows as competition increases and opportunities become more limited. This year, for the first time, one-third of managers surveyed are on track to experience annual DCIO net redemptions. Hearts & Wallets surveyed 28 asset managers, as well as DC recordkeepers and retirement-focused advisors, for this year's report—the ninth DCIO study authored by Hearts & Wallets' principals dating back to 2004.
